The good, the bad and the sad

The good news is that the weather has been amazing. A very pleasant break from the cold and snow/rain/clouds. I’m talking spring like around these parts. Even when it gets cold again our break has been so awesome you actually realize it won’t be long till the flowers really start popping and we can hang our laundry out to dry! (this being the reason for me not blogging at all, not to mention when the weather gets warmer we get busier, this is also good!)

The bad…well, there really isn’t any bad in my life. I have a beautiful family, cool dogs and cats, a great home, fantastic friends. All I can do is be thankful. Especially since the bad is really sad for us, and the rest of the world.

The sad…the devastating earthquake in New Zealand.

Many of you have inquired whether this has affected our New Zealand family, and fortunately it has not, as far as we know. We know that the Bliss-Stick factory and family are safe since they are on the North Island, Christchurch is on the South Island. We do have friends that are from Christchurch but currently live on the West Coast of the South Island. It has been some time since we spoke to Kirsty and Tim. All we can do is wish the best for them and their families.

My husband scours the internet and reads article to stay connected, keep updated. The death toll rises and still many people are missing.

As for Christchurch, it was a heavily historical city for the country. Beautiful and trendy, good music and great energy. Read more hear about this awesome city. It is extremely saddening and lays heavy on our hearts that this city will never truly be the same as it was. Not just for the structure but for it residents as well. However, they are a strong community and strong country. They will work hard to achieve the cities greatness once again. There is no doubt about it!

Bragging Rights

I am getting excited about our 2011 season. We have been spending the past month planning and organizing, making contacts. This will be the first event for us this year. Really excited!

That’s what friends are for…

I hope your sunday has been as yummy and sunny as ours! We had a splendid day playing with some long time friends that we have not seen in some time. The sun was shining, the food (as you can see) was five star, the champagne was chilled and the child was thrilled!

We got to feed the chickens, which made the day of an aspiring farm girl (our daughter), dug for worms in the compost and went for a walk up above the property. The little farm girl took it upon herself to gather the eggs that the ladies had recently laid. Really grand!!

Cheers and Bon Appetit!

F.A.M.I.L.Y.

From our families to yours. We are totally digging this song in our house! When my daughter was falling asleep tonight she said, “you are always in my heart mommy.” So I sang this to her to fall asleep. Really sweet, simple and powerful for a 3 1/2 year old!

Happy Valentine’s my dear ones!

The Treehouse that speaks French

I don’t know if you have taken the time to browse through some of the other blogs I have linked to the right, or not. But there is one particular one that really catches my eye today.

Well, firstly, I came across Design Mom by accident. I had a snowy afternoon to piddle on the computer and somehow I ended up reading her blog. I really can’t tell you how I got there. What really interested me in her blog was not all the wonderful design ideas or amazing photos of her six children, but the journey they are currently unraveling as spending 1 year abroad in France. Sure that sounds easy but really? Six kids, one is less than a year and they managed to successfully move from Denver, CO to the country side of France. I am inspired and interested in learning the steps they have taken to make their dream a reality!

Although, today that is not what inspires me. What I love about her post from 2/8/11 is, well,  the entire post…I mean look at this treehouse! We wouldn’t be able to get our daughter down if we had something in our yard as fantastic as this!!

My most favorite part is the years of love that are so visible when you see this piece of architecture. Really sweet and beautiful detail!

Favorite Dr. Seuss

There are many Dr. Seuss Poems that are really fun. Lately we have been reading “One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish.” So much that our daughter has memorized the first three pages! This one in particular makes my mouth happy. You must read aloud with enough speed and animation that it rolls right through.

Happy Dr. Seuss reading!

Exert from the book, “One Fish,Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish.”:

Bump!

Bump!

Bump!

Did you ever ride a Wump?

We have a wump

with just one hump.

But…

We know a man

called Mr. Gump.

Mr. Gump has a seven hump Wump.

So…

if you like to go Bump! Bump!

just jump on the hump of the Wump of Gump.
