Still noshing on Pumpkin-Pecan Pie. Can’t seem to just walk by. Decided to have it with my coffee this morning. The flavors have definitely congealed leaving me completely satisfied with the recipe. Butter, sugar, pecans and all!
Made the sourdough loaf yesterday afternoon/evening. Pulled the starter out of the fridge, combined with bread flour per recipe instructions, set in oven for 1 1/2 hours to double, pulled from oven, gently kneaded, created loaf, set back in oven for one more hour to rise, then back out to mark an X on the top, back in the oven at 400 degrees for one more hour.
The bread was warm and perfect in the center. The outer crust was too hard. Did I knead it too much? too long? Not enough? Bake it for too long? Will do some detective work on that one and let you know what I come up with! Do you bake bread? What do you suggest I do different?
I think I am going to bake cinnamon rolls next weekend. All this is a first, by the way. I have never made a pie, and definitely not from scratch. Nor have I baked bread. With that being said I would observe with great humor! As this is fun and I am like a child determined to do it all at once.
As for the rest of the day, will take a break from the kitchen. The weather is peaking at about 65 today. Will spend the morning outside then head over to the Wedge to begin festivities to celebrate Grant’s birthday. (I will cheers Eribug as her birthday is tomorrow). Always a good time!
I hope you enjoy your day!
